Family Hospitality
You stay with a real family, not a front desk. We help with directions, local food and travel tips for Dirang and Tawang.
Gonpapa Homestay is a small, family-run home in Dirang, set among the pine-covered slopes of West Kameng. Run by Sang Khandu and his family, it was opened so travellers could rest somewhere quiet and genuinely cared for, rather than in a crowded hotel.
Our rooms are simple, clean and warm, with thick blankets for the cool mountain nights and windows that open onto the hills. Meals are cooked at home using local produce, and you are welcome to sit with the family over tea and ask about the valley, the monasteries and the best places to walk.
Whether you are passing through on the way to Tawang or staying a few days to slow down, you will be looked after like one of our own guests — honestly and without fuss.
